PAIS-MMC

PAIS Multiscale Microscopy Center

The Physics & Astronomy and Interdisciplinary Science Multiscale Microscopy Center (PAIS-MMC) is a UNM Internal Service Center (ISC) offering specialized microscopy instrumentation and analysis. The ISC framework allows the microscopy developers based in PAIS to share their technology with the broader UNM community by recovering operational costs.

We offer a monthly subscription fee for access to the MMC. This subscription enables users to reserve and use multiple instruments without additional hourly charges. Subscription benefits also include data storage, computing resources, and wet lab access. However, users must complete mandatory training for the wet lab and the instruments prior to use. Training is provided as an additional service.

MMC access includes specialized software and support for generating the primary output from the microscopes, such as super-resolution images and light-sheet volumes. Problem-specific analysis is also available as a service.

PAIS is a state-of-the-art research and teaching facility that was recently constructed. It is the home to both the UNM Physics & Astronomy Department and the Interdisciplinary Science Co-op.
